The Jackson Women's Leadership Council for United Way of Jackson County is sponsoring an innovative fundraiser called "Power of the Purse."
The event will be held on Friday, Oct. 1 at 6 p.m. at Daryl's Downtown.
" Proceeds from the event will benefit programs that nourish young bodies and minds," a spokesperson said.
"We are asking area businesses and organizations to assemble a purse full of items with a theme to be sold during our silent auction at the event or to donate 200 smaller, fun items for our 'Swag Bag' with business names or information on them."
There are a limited number of tickets available at $50 each and table sponsorships also are available.
There will be heavy hors' d oeuvres, a cash bar with hand painted, collectible glassware, and an "intriguing live auction not to be missed," a spokesperson said.
