Home energy workshop to focus on programs, services for residents

On Wednesday, Sept. 22, beginning at 7 p.m., Oakland County Commissioner Gary McGillivray in partnership with the City of Madison Heights will host a Home Energy Workshop. The informative workshop will be conducted at the City of Madison Heights' City Hall, located at 300 West 13 Mile Road in Madison Heights.
County residents will be educated on energy programs such as the Consumer Energy Rebate Program and the Oakland Livingston Human Services Weatherization Program.
The Warm Training Center, the BPI Auditor for Applied Building Science and Lowe's Home Improvements Division will provide numerous energy efficiency techniques to help residents conserve energy and save money.
"The goal of the workshop is to include something for every income level by having organizations like OLSHA and others talk about their programs. The Warm Training Center will share low cost to no cost ways to save energy and Applied Building Science will educate participants on a complete home energy audit and retrofit," stated McGillivray.
He continued to say, "Now is the time to think about energy bills as we start to use the furnaces and quickly approach the heating season. It is estimated that on average a home can save between 10% and 40% on energy cost that is why we are hosting this workshop to help people save."
