Man sentenced in 2008 Pontiac beating deaths
PONTIAC (AP) -- An 18-year-old man has been sentenced to 18 years and nine months to 60 years in prison in the August 2008 attacks on two homeless men who died after being beaten in Pontiac.
Darrin Higgins Jr. was sentenced Monday in Pontiac. He had pleaded guilty to two counts of second-degree murder in the deaths of 61-year-old Wilford "Frenchie" Hamilton and 65-year-old Lee Hoffman.
Higgins was 17 when he was arrested in October 2009, and initially denied any involvement in the beatings.
Two others earlier were convicted and sentenced to life in prison on charges related to the attacks.
