Gerard Anderson to become new CEO of DTE Energy

DETROIT (AP) -- DTE Energy Co. says President and Chief Operating Officer Gerard Anderson will become president and chief executive officer beginning Oct. 1.

Anderson takes over for 61-year-old Anthony Earley, who will have the title of executive chairman of the board and continue as a full-time employee of the Detroit utility.

DTE Energy's board of directors elected Anderson to the post last Thursday, and the company made the announcement in a news release last Friday.

Earley says in the statement the board has been preparing for the change for several years.

The 52-year-old Anderson has served as DTE Energy's president and COO since 2005.

Earley has been CEO and chairman of the board since 1998. He was president and COO from 1994 through 1998.
