LANSING (AP) -- The state says seasonally unadjusted unemployment rates dropped in all 17 major labor markets across Michigan in August.
The Michigan Department of Energy, Labor and Economic Growth report released last Thursday indicates regional rates ranged from a low of 8.8 percent in the Ann Arbor region to 14.4 percent in the Detroit area.
Mackinac County had the state's lowest jobless rate among counties at 5.6 percent. Baraga County had the highest rate at 22 percent.
A monthly survey of employers indicated that seasonally unadjusted payroll jobs in Michigan dropped by 11,000 in August to about 3.8 million.
