Harriet Myer BPW is bringing women's rights film to town on Sept. 30

The Harriet A. Myer Business and Professional Women (BPW) is once again bringing "Iron Jawed Angels," a documentary on women's right to vote, to Michigan Theatre on Thursday, September 30. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the show starts at 7 p.m. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for students with ID. The HBO 2004 documentary depicts the long and often ugly struggle by women who put their lives at risk to help American women win the right to vote. Hilary Swank portrays rights activist Alice Paul in this moving story of women being beaten, put in jail and starved fighting for the cause. BPW invites women of all ages to see the film, and especially encourage them to bring their daughters and granddaughters, ages 13 and older, to learn the importance of retaining and exercising their right to vote. It is also a wonderful opportunity for men to see what women endured and how they persevered to obtain this right. Concessions are available. www.michigantheatre.org Published: Mon, Sep 27, 2010
