Conflict Resolution Day celebrated with conference

Conflict is a daily reality in every setting: the home, the neighborhood, and the workplace. Fortunately, community-based organizations exist to help individuals address every type of conflict with alternatives to violence or litigation. In recognition of Conflict Resolution Day, an Annual International Celebration, the Association for Conflict Resolution Michigan Chapter invites community members to attend its ADR Speed Shopping Conference, where they will have the opportunity to learn about a wide variety of options for resolving conflicts outside the courtroom, as well as how to access these services when the need arises. Participating organizations include: American Arbitration Association; Michigan Department of Civil Rights; Equal Employment Opportunity Commission; Federal Mediation & Conciliation; United States Postal Services, Bureau of Employment Relations; Detroit Metropolitan and Oakland County Bar Associations; Wayne State University, Community Dispute Resolution Centers; Family Mediation Council; Youth Program Providers; and more. The conference will take place on Tuesday, Oct. 21, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Auburn Hills Marriott Pontiac at Centerpoint, 3600 Centerpoint Parkway with lunch to follow. The registration fee is $35 for current ACR members, $45 for non-members.
