Ingham Land Bank update

By Eric Schertzing
Treasurer, Ingham County
The demolition of the former Deluxe Inn is complete. Site stabilization and seeding should wrap up Friday. A sign went up on the property today declaring the two acres site REDEVELOPMENT READY. Bounded by Washington Avenue, I-496 and the Grand River the potential for this site is great!
A contractor recruitment fair was held on September 30th. Visit www.inghamlandbank.org to see the flyer with more details. Homes available for purchase can also be viewed at this site.
Housing renovation activity continues to increase. The Neighborhood Stabilization Program (NSP) funding is making great things possible. Over $600,000 will be invested every month for the next two years in 17 Census Tracts surrounding the Capitol. Two support personnel positions will soon be added to our core NSP staff of 6.
A couple reminders from late summer are:
* The Lansing-E.Lansing area received encouraging 2nd Q news from the Realtor Association. The median price of existing single-family homes increased by 13.4%.
* In late July, Kiplinger tagged Lansing as a great city for young adults. This put us on a list with Austin, TX; Charlotte, NC; Chicago; Houston; Kansas City, MO; New York; Portland, OR; Salt Lake City and Washington, DC. http://ow.ly/2ihXF
