Leadership seminar aims to help Oakland County residents in need

The Women's Commission for Oakland County will present a free seminar on Monday, Oct. 18, designed to help Oakland County residents build skills in personal and professional leadership.
Job-seekers are especially encouraged to attend the day-long event, which is offered free of charge. The Professional Leadership portion will be presented by Rick Weaver, chair of the Oakland County Employment Diversity Commission. He will share the seven qualities employers most desire, which most applicants already possess, and explain how to communicate those qualities in a job interview. Yvonne Listenbee Brownlee, a member of the Siena Heights University faculty, will speak on the five practices of exemplary leadership, the many ways we currently serve as leaders and explore ways to succeed as an "influencer."
Participants will attend either the personal or professional leadership workshop in the morning, break for lunch, then attend the other workshop in the afternoon. Lunch is provided free of charge. Registration opens at 8:30 a.m., and the seminar begins at 9 a.m.
Hosted by the Women's Commission Leadership Committee, this event will be held at the Oakland County Executive Office Building, 2100 Pontiac Lake Road, in Waterford. For additional information or to register, contact Brenda Savage at savagebcp@gmail.com or (248) 375-1603.
Sponsors for this event are: Walmart, Rochester Hills; Meijer, Rochester Hills Marketplace; Great Lakes Artisans of Michigan, Auburn Hills; Representative Marty Knollenberg, Troy & Clawson; Representative Eileen Kowall, White Lake Twp.; Diane Dunaskiss, WSU Board of Governors; Hillers' Markets; Staples, Rochester Hills; and Hills Grill Restaurant, Rochester Hills.
