Well-known local eatery, the Maize and Blue Deli, is one of three Ann Arbor restaurants to be featured on the "Man vs. Food" cable TV program airing next week on the Travel Channel, on Wednesday evening, Oct. 20.
Consult your local cable or dish television guide for channels and times.
The Deli, located at 1329 South University, is owned by the family of local attorney and former WLAM Washtenaw Region President Suzanne Sukkar.
Sukkar's father Khalaf Sukkar and uncle Ed Sukkar, operate the restaurant with help from Suzanne's cousin, Ahmad Sukkar.
Adam Richman, the host of the show, "samples their famous Triple Play Reuben," according to the show's website.
Sukkar's uncle noted that Richman had no trouble polishing off the sandwich.
"He is an amazing eater," he said, adding that the film crew comprised over 20 people crowded into the small restaurant on the day of shooting earlier this year.
"It was chaos!"
Suzanne Sukkar worked at the Deli while in high school and college and says she still will take a turn at the register if she is visiting and there is a counter rush.
The restaurant features a back wall with signatures of many of its famous visitors including Bo Schembechler, the "Fab Five," Mitch Albom, Tom Brady, now of the New England Patriots, and many others.
Sukkar noted that she had the opportunity to meet most of the personages during her teen years.
The program also will feature Tios Mexican Cafe and Krazy Jim's Blimpy Burger, the website announced.
