Michigan's Attorney Grievance Commission appointments announced

The Michigan Supreme Court has announced the following appointments to the Attorney Grievance Commission: * Kent J. Vana of Grand Rapids, attorney and Of Counsel to the law firm of Varnum, Riddering, Schmidt, & Howlett LLP, is reappointed chairperson of the AGC for a term ending October 1, 2011. * Martha D. Moore of Ann Arbor, attorney and associate professor at Thomas M. Cooley Law School, is reappointed as vice-chairperson of the AGC for a term ending October 1, 2011. * David L. Porteous of Reed City, attorney and principal in the law firm of McCurdy, Wotila, & Porteous PC, is reappointed to a term ending October 1, 2013. * Barbara B. Smith, of Bloomfield Hills, attorney in the law firm of Barbara B. Smith PLLC, is appointed for a term ending October 1, 2013. The AGC, which was established in 1978 by order of the Michigan Supreme Court, investigates and prosecutes attorney misconduct cases. The nine members of the AGC serve on a voluntary basis.
