LANSING (AP) -- Michigan attorney general-elect Bill Schuette has announced the first members of his transition team.
The Republican and former state Court of Appeals judge announced last Friday that Troy Cumings will serve as director of the team. Cumings is senior counsel with Warner, Norcross, & Judd, the law firm where Schuette has worked since 2009.
Among the others on the team, Lansing attorney and longtime Republican activist Richard D. McLellan will be senior counsel and former Michigan Chamber of Commerce President Jim Barrett will serve as senior adviser.
Schuette was elected last week over Democratic Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton and two third-party candidates. He succeeds two-term Republican Mike Cox, who couldn't run again because of term limits.
