George La Plata
George La Plata, 86, passed away Sunday, Nov. 14. He was born on Oct. 17, 1924, in Detroit, Michigan, to Enrique and Josephine La Plata. He is survived by his loving wife and best friend Frances La Plata; his children AJ Rard (Kerry) and Dr. Marshall La Plata (Cindy); his grandchildren Marci, Franci, Mandi, Joshua, and 10 great grandchildren.
La Plata was a colonel in the United States Marine Corps, who served during World War II and the Korean Conflict; attorney and Oakland County Circuit Court judge; federal judge appointed by President Ronald Reagan in 1985; professor at Detroit College of Law; and published author.
La Plata was a member of Cross of Christ Lutheran Church in Bloomfield Hills and First Baptist Church of Naples, Florida.
An interment with honors will be held Friday, Nov. 19, at 1 p.m. at Sarasota National Cemetery. A Memorial Service will be held at First Baptist Church of Naples, Florida, 3000 Orange Blossom Drive, on Saturday, Nov. 20, at 11 a.m.
