Washtenaw Legal News editor receives award

Jackson Business and Professional Women are pleased to announce the 2010-2011 Person of Achievement recipient Frank Weir. He was presented the award on October 12 at Jackson BPW's business meeting and recognized at the Michigan BPW Fall Board in Traverse City on October 23, 2010.
Frank Weir is editor of the Jackson County and Washtenaw County editions of the Legal News. They are part of the Detroit Legal News which includes nine editions in the lower peninsula of Michigan.
Frank has been instrumental in keeping BPW in the forefront by publishing news of the many activities of BPW in the Legal News. He is always supportive of the events and issues we believe in. As one example, on Equal Pay Day, he always has someone there to take pictures and interview people as they attend the event at the Jackson Coffee Company.
His quote is, "I am pleased and thankful to be honored by the Jackson BPW. It has been a delight to get to know everyone associated with both the Jackson BPW and the Harriet A. Myer Chapters of the BPW."
Frank moved to Michigan during high school, attended Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX, earning a bachelor's degree in journalism; and the University of Toledo College of Law, earning his law degree. He practiced law for 10 years before returning to journalism working for a small paper in Saline, and then joining the Legal News.
He is married to Barbara, a special education teacher. They have two adult children, and reside in Saline.
