Chief judge announces upcoming court changes

Oakland County Circuit Court Chief Judge Nanci Grant announces the following changes to the court's docket: With the impending retirement of Oakland County Circuit Judge John McDonald, effective Thursday, Dec. 2, McDonald's civil/criminal docket will be reassigned to the remaining 13 judges of the Civil/Criminal Division of the Court. Orders of reassignment will be mailed to attorneys beginning next week. These orders will be generated for all open cases, and for all closed cases that have had activity within the past year. If a case is assigned to an eFiling judge, the case will become an eFiling case by order of the court. McDonald's seat will be suspended at the expiration of the current term of office on Jan. 1, 2011. Also effective on Dec. 2, Judge Denise Langford Morris will join 11 other circuit judges in the eFiling program. Subsequently, Judge Leo Bowman will change over to an eFiling docket on Tuesday, Dec. 14. Attorneys and self-represented parties will be able to eFile their legal documents to the court and electronically serve those documents to opposing counsel. To ensure effective processing of documents filed with the Circuit Court, it is important for attorneys and pro per litigants whose non-eFiling cases are involved in the reassignment process to get new bar code labels for their cases from the Oakland County Clerk's Office.
