Safe driving initiative kicked off for holidays
LANSING (AP) -- Michigan State Police are kicking off the "Give Thanks. Drive Safely" campaign heading into the Thanksgiving holiday.
State Police said in a release that the campaign features a depiction of traditional Thanksgiving items and includes a television public service announcement, billboards, outdoor banners and place mats in restaurants.
It precedes the annual Operation C.A.R.E. enforcement for Thanksgiving and the ensuing weekend.
Eleven people were killed in 10 traffic accidents across Michigan over last year's Thanksgiving holiday.
