Mich. soldier in Kuwait takes oath as attorney
By Tim Martin
Associated Press
LANSING (AP) -- An Army sergeant serving in Kuwait with the Michigan National Guard has been sworn in as an attorney.
Christopher Horvath is a recent graduate of Thomas M. Cooley Law School. He was sworn in as a new attorney during a video conference ceremony held last Wednesday in Lansing.
Horvath was notified in October that he had passed the bar. He recently shipped out to Kuwait.
His deployment orders precluded his participation in a traditional swearing-in ceremony with his graduating class.
The video conference was arranged by the Michigan Army National Guard, Michigan Court of Appeals, U.S. District Court for the Western District of Michigan and the law school.
Horvath drew laughs both in Lansing and Kuwait when he said boot camp seemed easier than his freshman year of law school.
