Philip Wrzesinski receives Entrepreneurial Vision Award

The Jackson County Chamber of Commerce and South Central Michigan Works! have announced that Philip Wrzesinski of the Toy House and Baby Too is the recipient of the Jackson County Entrepreneurial Vision Award.
Now in its third generation of family ownership, Toy House and Baby Too is one of the largest independent, family-owned toy stores in America, "and one of the greatest shopping experiences in Michigan," a chamber spokesperson said.
"Toy House and Baby Too has over 30,000 square feet of selling and warehouse space holding the largest collection of quality toys, dolls, bikes, hobbies, baby items, crafts, books, and more under one roof.
"More importantly, they still have some of the most wonderful people on its staff; professionals dedicated to making visitors smile every time they visit," the spokesperson continued.
"Being nominated for the Entrepreneurial Vision Award is certainly a thrill," Wrzesinski said.
"More importantly, however, is knowing that I have helped entrepreneurs succeed, that I have helped businesses grow, that I have helped strengthen both the Jackson economy and other economies through the work that I do."
The Entrepreneurial Vision Award is meant to honor an individual or organization that has made an outstanding contribution to the entrepreneurial growth of Jackson County through assisting entrepreneurs to become successful by providing business, educational and/or community support.
Specifically, this award recognizes an individual or organization that has consistently contributed time, money, encouragement, and/or skill development to further the cause of the entrepreneurial spirit.
"My long-term commitments to both the Midtown Association of Jackson, where I serve as president, and Jackson Local First Independent Business Alliance, where I serve as vice president, allow me to work closely with a number of Jackson businesses on events and activities that help us all draw traffic, gain exposure and network better," he said.
"I was instrumental in two activities this year, the Taste of Jackson that gave incredible exposure to 14 local restaurants, and the Downtown Jackson Summer Scavenger Hunt that encouraged teams of downtown employees to visit as many downtown businesses as possible to get to know them better while competing for prizes and having fun.
"We had five teams participate, visiting almost 40 different businesses in our inaugural event.
"For this reason, I took one of my bigger risks by creating the website www.PhilsForum.com primarily for helping independent retailers to succeed.
"I have put my secrets to success out there including 15 free ebooks on topics from Branding to Pricing to Inventory Management and more."
The Entrepreneurial Vision Award, along with numerous other community awards, will be presented at the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce Annual Meeting on Jan. 20, 2011 beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the Jackson Community College Potter Center.
