DETROIT (AP) -- The owner of Ambassador Bridge is facing possible legal trouble in a dispute with state officials about ramp approaches on the Detroit end of the international crossing.
The Detroit Free Press says Manuel "Matty" Moroun has been resisting Michigan Department of Transportation demands for more than a year to rebuild ramps intended to connect the bridge to Interstates 75 and 96.
MDOT says Moroun's company instead built ramps that forced trucks to use surface streets in Detroit and allowed a duty-free store to be created.
Wayne County Circuit Judge Prentis Edwards last February ordered the bridge company to comply with MDOT's design. Moroun unsuccessfully tried to get the case transferred to federal court.
MDOT and bridge officials declined comment to the Free Press.
A hearing is scheduled Wednesday.
