Decision on serial stabbings trial delayed until Jan.

FLINT (AP) -- Prosecutors in Flint need more time to present evidence as they try to persuade a judge that a man described as a serial killer should face a third murder trial.

The Genesee County prosecutor's office says a key witness was not available last Thursday, so the hearing will resume on Jan. 11. A judge heard some testimony about the death of Darwin Marshall, who was fatally stabbed in Flint on July 26.

Elias Abuelazam already faces two murder trials and five attempted murder trials for a series of stabbings in the Flint area. He's also charged with attempted murder in Toledo, Ohio, and suspected in similar attacks in Leesburg, Va., where he once lived.

Abuelazam was arrested in Atlanta on Aug. 11 while trying to fly to his native country, Israel.
