Local girl, 12, on quest to meet elected officials

ROCHESTER HILLS (AP) -- A 12-year-old Michigan girl has set a goal of meeting 115 elected officials who represented her -- and she's getting close.

The Detroit Free Press reports that Lilly Arbour of Rochester Hills and her father, Pete Arbour, set out to meet the library board and city council, judges, state legislators, U.S. lawmakers and former Gov. Jennifer Granholm. She's got two more on her list: President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden.

Lilly is expected to be in Washington on Tuesday for Obama's State of the Union speech. The newspaper says she's been invited by Democratic U.S. Rep. Gary Peters of Michigan.

The idea came when Lilly and her dad watched 2008 election results and didn't recognize many people.
