'Good Parenting Event' supported by Oakland County commissioners
Oakland County Commissioners Janet Jackson (D-representing the cities of Berkley, Lathrup Village and a portion of the City of Southfield) and Helaine Zack (D-representing the cities of Huntington Woods, Oak Park, Pleasant Ridge, Southfield and the township of Royal Oak), have joined with the Tri-Community Coalition and the Pattengill Elementary School's Parent Teacher Association to announce the "Good Parenting is Good Prevention Event." This event will be conducted Wednesday, March 2, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Beth Shalom located at 14601 West Lincoln in Oak Park.
Special guest speaker will be author and columnist Rochelle Riley, who will speak on her latest book "Good Parenting is Good Prevention" and offer parenting tips.
Space is limited. Reserve space at jsrtricom.tricommunitycoaliton.org or call the coalition at (248) 837-8008 to obtain free tickets. Tickets will also be sold at the door for $5.
As a supporter of Parent Awareness Month, Oakland County Commissioner Janet Jackson introduced a resolution to the full board on Feb. 17 which recognizes March as Parenting Awareness Month in Oakland County. This resolution was also co-sponsored by Commissioner Zack and other members of the Board and will be presented to the Oakland County Board of Commissioners' General Government Committee.
