Use your state tax return to help Jackson United Way

"There's an easy way for people filing a State of Michigan tax return to help Jackson County families with basic needs," according to a spokesperson for United Way of Jackson County. "A voluntary contribution 'check off' to the United Way Fund is available on the 2010 Michigan Income Tax return, Form 4642 (2010 Michigan Voluntary Contribution Schedule, Line 10). "All funds generated by the check off are returned to local United Ways across Michigan to support basic needs in their communities. "Last year, nearly $250,000 was raised state-wide to help families in need, with nearly $4,000 coming back to Jackson County." "It's really an easy, simple way to help our neighbors who are struggling during these difficult times", said Mike Robbins, principal with Rehmann Robson in Jackson, and a long time campaign volunteer with United Way. "With the support of the community, we can help even more families this year." Jackson County residents are being asked to consider this option when filing their 2010 Michigan state taxes. "The simple, quick check off will allow United Way to assist needy families in Jackson County with basic needs including food, clothing and shelter." Published: Mon, Feb 28, 2011
