Program by ACS to debate whether health care reform is constitutional

"Is the Health Care Reform Legislation Constitutional?"--a program by the Michigan Chapter of the American Constitution Society--will be offered Thursday, Apr. 7.
No topic in American constitutional law is currently hotter than whether the recent health care reform legislation is constitutional. At least two federal courts have rejected constitutional challenges to the legislation; two other federal courts have held that the legislation violates the constitution. This dispute is certain to be resolved by the United States Supreme Court.
Guest speaker Simon Lazarus is one of the leading scholars on the constitutional issues surrounding the health care legislation. He will discuss and analyze the constitutional challenges to the legislation and will present his arguments that the legislation does not violate any provision of the constitution.
Lazarus will speak at 5:30 p.m. on April 7, at the Spencer Partrich auditorium at Wayne State University Law School. There is no charge for admission.
