Michigan man convicted of murder in fatal crash
DETROIT (AP) -- A Detroit-area man accused of driving drunk and causing a crash that killed a 24-year-old woman has been found guilty of second-degree murder.
A jury announced its verdict Monday against 28-year-old Robert Bojaj of Farmington Hills.
He also was convicted of operating under the influence of liquor causing death.
Bojaj is to be sentenced March 24 in Wayne County Circuit Court.
Authorities say Shelby Gunn of Westland died after Bojaj slammed into the rear of her car on an area highway around 1:30 a.m. on Aug. 15.
Prosecutors say his blood-alcohol level was 0.26 percent, more than three times the limit at which someone can be convicted of drunken driving.
Defense lawyer Paul Bernier tells the Detroit Free Press "there are no winners in this case."
