Judge scratches Bobb injunction due to new law

DETROIT (AP) -- Emergency manager Robert Bobb has total control of Detroit Public Schools after a judge lifted an injunction that had limited his authority to financial matters.
Wayne County Judge Wendy Baxter's action last Friday was in response to a new law that gives emergency managers of a school district control over academics.
Detroit school board attorney George Washington told The Detroit News that the law "pulled the rug" from a lawsuit challenging Bobb's authority. Baxter had ruled in favor of the board in December.
Bobb's attorney John Clark says he'll soon ask that the lawsuit be dismissed. He says the law gives Bobb "all the tools available to him."
Bobb is expected to step down at the end of the school year, but Gov. Rick Snyder can appoint another emergency manager.
