Seminar to explore 'How Juvenile Law Affects Family Law'

The Family Court Committee of the Oakland County Bar Association will present "One Family, One Court--How Juvenile Law Affects Family Law" on Monday, April 11, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Oakland County Bar Center.
Speaking at the event will be Oakland County Circuit Court Judge Joan E. Young, Oakland County Circuit Court Referee David Bilson, attorney H. Elliot Parnes, Claudia Martello with Oakland County Friend of the Court, and a representative from the Department of Human Services.
Seminar topics will include:
--The impact of the juvenile case on the divorce/domestic proceedings.
--Basis for DL and/or NA cases--from authorizing the petition to termination of jurisdiction.
--How to explain to the client that child support is still being charged even when the child is in a third-party placement.
--What can extended family or friends do for placement of children in lieu of foster care?
--In Re: Beck-- continuation of support after termination of parental rights.
Cost for those who pre-register is $90 for OCBA members, $63 for OCBA new lawyers, and $120 for all non-members.
Cost at the door is $120 for OCBA members, $85 for OCBA new lawyers, and $160 for all non-members.
