Rochester Division of 52nd District Court to join state judicial system

The Oakland County 52nd District Court continues its ongoing technology changeover as the Rochester Division (52-3)joins the State of Michigan Judicial Information Systems (JIS), a court case management system provided and maintained by the State Court Administrative Office.
Rochester Division will begin using the JIS application on April 1, in a move intended to increase efficiency and reduce costs. The court will remain open during the transition. However, the online payment function will not be available from Tuesday, March 29, at 5 p.m. until Tueday, April 5.
The State JIS replaces the division's existing case management system. This change is expected to produce significant cost savings while boosting productivity and efficiency in court operations.
Key benefits of the change:
* Reduces 52nd District Court budget without cutting services.
* Increases productivity of 52nd District Court offices.
* Increases efficiency in court operations.
* Eliminates redundant operations by consolidating case management with State of Michigan Court Administrative Office.
* Streamlines future updates and maintenance of case management system.
* Prepares for future upgrade to "next generation" state court case management system.
"We are very excited about joining the Judicial Information case management system. The technology that is available through JIS will allow the judges and the employees of the 52-3 District Court to serve the public in a more efficient and cost effective manner," said Judge Nancy Tolwin Carniak, presiding judge of the 52-3 District Court.
In January, the Clarkston Division converted to the State JIS system. The 52nd District Court Divisions in Troy and Novi will also join the State JIS later in 2011.
