Government opens ICE facility in Sault Ste. Marie

SAULT STE. MARIE (AP) -- A new permanent facility in Sault Ste. Marie is designed to strengthen U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's efforts in northern Michigan.
The 10,000-square-foot ICE office that opened last Friday includes Enforcement Removal Operations and Homeland Security Investigations, and officials say it should help improve border security. The agency says it includes an evidence-processing room, a short-term holding facility and new office space.
ICE is an investigative arm of the Department of Homeland Security.
