ArvinMeritor officially changes name to Meritor
TROY (AP) -- ArvinMeritor Inc. has officially changed its name to Meritor Inc., the auto supplier said Wednesday.
It has started trading under its new symbol, "MTOR," on the New York Stock Exchange.
The company initially assumed the name Meritor following the spinoff from Rockwell International Corp. in 1997. It remained Meritor until the combination with Arvin Industries Inc. in 2000.
Its shares rose 57 cents, or 2.9 percent, to $20.10 in midday trading.
