Cooley-WCBA and Petoskey troop box campaigns garner largest donations yet

Editor's Note: The following was submitted by Daniel Ray, Cooley Law School dean andprofessor, commenting on the school's participation in the Iraq Afghanistan PAC campaign in conjunction with the WCBA.
"I want to take a minute to extend my great thanks to all who helped with this winter's Iraq/Afghanistan PAC collection drive. It was a huge success, probably the largest collection to date.
"On Thursday, March 17, we had 90 boxes (each capable of holding 70 lbs of stuff) available at the Ford National Parts Distribution Center, and WE RAN OUT OF BOXES.
"Think about that: we had the capacity to ship about 3 tons of donations, and we had far more donations than boxes.
"Barb Grasso, who runs Iraq/Afghanistan PAC, brought more boxes over the weekend and got the remaining items shipped. I'm estimating that we collected, in total, 4 to 4.5 tons of donations.
"The Cooley community and the WCBA played an integral part in this success. While exact numbers aren't kept, I estimate that between Cooley and the WCBA, we collected more than 1,000 pounds of donations.
"The OCBA partnered with Campbell's Soup Company and delivered several pallets of food donations, along with a variety of other goods.
"In short, your generousity was simply remarkable. At some point, we will have photos of the troops when they receive these donations. When those pictures are available, I'll be sure to put them on the shared drive so you can see the results of your efforts.
"Once again, many thanks for all you did."
