Michigan Theatre supporters thanked for a successful 2010
By Alison Loveday
Executive Director
The Michigan Theatre of Jackson is our city's oldest and largest movie palace.
The Theatre provides today's entertainment in a historic venue. We do this by providing quality programming for our community both young and old.
Partnering with community organizations and businesses our events make an essential contribution to the quality of life in Jackson.
In 2010 we presented 135 events, which included free family night at the movies, JCC Film Series, Famous Pairs Series and live concerts.
Approximately 40,000 community members passed through our doors last year.
The polishing of our downtown gem continues thanks to our building committee.
Highlights include the restoration of the Men's Lounge and center coffer of the promenade, replacement of the roofs, electrical and plumbing updates, installation of storm windows, upgrade of the dressing rooms and new tile floor in the basement.
As always, none of the work we do here would be possible without the support our tremendously dedicated and hardworking Board of Directors and The Producers, a friends group of the Theatre.
We must also thank our many donors, volunteers and, of course, our audiences, whose loyalty and support have made the Michigan Theatre what it is today.
We are excited for the coming year as we look to expand our entertainment offerings in an effort to welcome more of our community through the doors of the Michigan Theatre.
