The American Law Institute-American Bar Association, the first national provider of Continuing Legal Education (CLE) and the industry leader in professional development for over 60 years, recently announced that "Navigating Health Care Reform: A Practical, Affordable Guide" is now available. The text reviews the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act and examines the risks and benefits health care providers and employers will encounter in making plan changes.
"Healthcare reform legislation will have an unbelievably complicated and all-consuming impact on individuals, businesses and insurance providers, and this book serves as a useful roadmap for navigating these changes," said Robert B. Shapiro, co-author of "Navigating Health Care Reform." "The cost of compliance can be significant for businesses and insurers, and it's important that they understand the full implications of the legislation so they can make appropriate adjustments."
"Navigating Health Care Reform" discusses the five major components of health care reform legislation, how the federal legislation relates to existing state health care reforms, a step-by-step guide to calculating health insurance tax credits, how excise tax penalties are calculated, different types of state health insurance exchanges permitted under the Act and more. The book includes contributions from 13 authors who have examined the insurance, legal, medical and policy implications of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.
Shapiro is Of Counsel with Jorden Burt LLP, where he advises and represents insurers, insureds, reinsurers, agents, brokers, investment bankers, all major state insurance departments and the federal government on regulatory and tax issues. He earned an MBA in Finance from the Wharton School, and law degrees from Syracuse University and Georgetown University.
The 132-page soft cover text is available for $99 plus shipping and handling and a digital edition is available for $89. Both versions can be purchased online at www.ali-aba.org/BK78 or via phone at 1-800-253-6397. This text is also available through several sections of the ALI-ABA Knowledge Portal (http://www.ali-aba.org/portal/), ALI-ABA's subscription-based online education resource, including employment law, insurance, health law, taxation and in-house counsel.
