Cooley associate dean speaks at U.S. Coast Guard Ethics Forum

Cooley Law School Associate Dean Joan Vestrand recently spoke at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy's 22nd Annual Ethics Forum in New London, Conn. The purpose of the forum is to focus on the importance of integrity in all walks of life and to provide the best foundation possible in the humanities, government, integrity, ethics and political judgment to produce in Academy graduates outstanding citizens, good officers and leaders. The annual event is a day of ethics education spanning such topics as academia, broadcasting, business, engineering, environment, finance, government, law, leadership, medicine, military, sports, terror management and water resource management. For the cadets, the Ethics Forum serves as an opportunity to learn from speakers with a wide breadth of real world experience and training, as well as examine moral dilemmas in greater detail. Representatives from all the military academies attend the forum. This is the second year in a row that Vestrand, who is the associate dean at Cooley's Ann Arbor campus, has been invited to speak at the Coast Guard forum. She has been invited to speak there again in 2012. She has also been approached to speak at the Citadel in Spring 2012 at their annual Leadership Forum. Published: Tue, Apr 19, 2011
