Officials consider future, fate of Troy's library

TROY (AP) -- Officials in Troy have decided that they won't close the Troy Public Library on May 1 as initially expected.
The Detroit Free Press and The Detroit News report the decision was made at a City Council meeting in the Detroit suburb earlier this week.
Mayor Louise Schilling says no funding decisions have been made. The city could put a millage on its November ballot to assure long-term operations.
Voters twice rejected millage proposals last year for funding library operations. A decision on the city's budget is expected May 16 that could resolve the library's fate.
