Charged teacher says he meant no harm with gun
PLYMOUTH (AP) -- A high school teacher with Plymouth-Canton Community Schools who authorities say brought a gun to school says he never intended to harm anyone.
The Detroit Free Press and The Detroit News report that 52-year-old Raymond Schepansky made the statement last Friday, the day of a court hearing in the case. He was charged last month with carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a weapon on school property and felony firearm.
A judge is expected to decide May 31 whether there is enough evidence for Schepansky to stand trial.
Schepansky was arrested April 14 after going to Plymouth High School, and the district cancelled classes for a day.
Defense lawyer Richard Convertino says Schepansky was at the campus only to drop off a lesson plan for a substitute teacher.
