High school teacher to face weapon charge

PLYMOUTH (AP) -- A high school teacher with Plymouth-Canton Community Schools who authorities say brought a gun to school has been ordered to stand trial on a weapon charge.
A judge on in Plymouth on Tuesday dismissed other charges against 52-year-old Raymond Schepansky including possession of a weapon on school property. Judge Michael J. Gerou says the gun was found in a car Schepansky was driving, not at school.
Schepansky was arrested April 14 after going to Plymouth High School, and the district cancelled classes for a day.
Schepansky has said he never intended to harm anyone. Defense lawyer Richard Convertino tells The Detroit News he'll seek to get the remaining charge dismissed. He's said Schepansky was at the campus only to drop off a lesson plan for a substitute teacher.
