Two charges dismissed in trial about missing man

GRAND RAPIDS (AP) -- A federal judge in Grand Rapids has dismissed two major charges against a financial adviser who is blamed for the disappearance of an Ionia County retiree.
Judge Janet Neff on Tuesday acquitted Rami Saba of kidnapping resulting in death and interstate murder for hire. Saba still faces many serious charges, including kidnapping.
The case centers on the disappearance of Donald Dietz, a 66-year-old Saranac man who was last seen in 2007. Authorities say Saba and an accomplice got rid of him to get access to his money.
The trial began May 10 and prosecutors rested their case Friday. Saba is representing himself with the help of attorney Sharon Turek, who says no one really knows what happened to Dietz because he's still missing.
