New U.S. data show economic recovery in Michigan
DETROIT (AP) -- New government data show Michigan's economy grew at a rate of 2.9 percent during 2010, faster than the national average of 2.6 percent.
The Detroit Free Press and The Detroit News report the figures were released Tuedsay by the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis and confirm that the recession in Michigan has officially ended. The figures say it was the state's best economic growth rate since 2002.
Last year, the figures show that Michigan was the 15th fastest growing state in the country compared with its spot as 48th in 2009.
