Oakland University OKs 7 pct. tuition increase
ROCHESTER (AP) -- Oakland University's regents have raised tuition by 7 percent for the coming academic year.
The Detroit Free Press says the decision was made recently. It sets the tuition for undergraduates from within Michigan at $10,399.
Under the funding plan passed by the state Legislature and headed to Gov. Rick Snyder, Oakland University's annual state aid is set to drop from $50.6 million to $43.1 million.
Oakland board chairman Henry Baskins says legislators "don't know anything" about schools like Oakland and are unaware of the damage the budget cuts are causing to education in the state.
