Judge freezes slaying suspect's lottery assets
DETROIT (AP) -- The lottery winnings of a postal worker charged in the shooting death of his daughter's landlord in Detroit have been ordered frozen by a judge.
The Detroit News reports a hearing is June 28 to determine if Wayne County Circuit Court Judge Brian Sullivan's order will be extended or made permanent. Sullivan made his ruling Monday after Greg McNicol's widow filed a wrongful death lawsuit against 62-year-old Freddie Young.
A message seeking comment was left Wednesday by The Associated Press with a lawyer for Young.
Young is charged with first-degree murder in McNicol's slaying last month outside an apartment building the Australian native owned.
Young's lottery club shared a $46.5 million jackpot in February. Each member was to have received about $1.6 million through a cash payout.
