Judge orders Ambassador Bridge exec back to court
DETROIT (AP) -- A top executive of the company that owns the bridge connecting Detroit and Windsor, Ontario, has been ordered back to Wayne County Circuit Court to face a contempt charge.
The Detroit Free Press says Judge Prentis Edwards has ordered Detroit International Bridge Co. President Dan Stamper to appear before him July 7.
Michigan is suing the company over work done on the $230 million Ambassador Bridge Gateway Project. It's designed to link traffic from expressways in southwest Detroit to the bridge.
Stamper was briefly jailed in January after Edwards found him in contempt for disobeying an order to rebuild approaches to the Ambassador Bridge. The ruling follows a court hearing last week that Stamper didn't attend.
The Associated Press left a message Tuesday seeking comment from Stamper.
