New Michigan justice addressed tea partiers

VASSAR, Mich. (AP) -- Michigan's newest Supreme Court justice is bracing for a tough election campaign in 2012. Justice Brian Zahra spoke to a tea party group last Thursday in Vassar in Michigan's Thumb region. The Saginaw News says he described himself as a "rule of law" judge and predicted "fabrications" from his opponents next year when he's on the ballot. Zahra was appointed by Republican Gov. Rick Snyder after Maura Corrigan resigned in January. He plans to run for the remaining two years in Corrigan's term. Zahra, a conservative, says his job is to interpret the law.
