Cooley staff person honored for work with United Way campaigns

Lisa Davis, Coordinator of Student Professionalism at Cooley Law School, has been named this year's recipient of the Capital Area United Way's Marion Marshall Award. The award is given each year to a "volunteer outside the campaign leadership structure who has displayed dedication, effort, and the kind of commitment that personifies the success of the United Way campaign." "Lisa epitomizes the volunteer spirit that makes Cooley great," said Amy Timmer, Cooley Professor and Associate Dean of Students and Professionalism. Davis has been part of the United Way campaign at Cooley for 19 years, building the campaign to its Diamond Level giving status. She lives in Delhi Township, Mich. Cooley President Don LeDuc noted, "Lisa has been instrumental in raising the participation level to 85 percent or higher for over a decade. Her spirit and enthusiasm has kept the team and staff motivated. "Lisa has also helped to expand the United Way giving to other Cooley campuses in Michigan by mentoring others, and through the use of special speakers to inspire the staff to donate. She is a living example of the dedicated effort and commitment to community service," LeDuc said. Cooley Law School is the largest law school in the nation. Founded in 1972, the private, non-profit law school operates J.D. programs across Michigan in Lansing, Auburn Hills, Grand Rapids and Ann Arbor. Today, Cooley Law School has more than 15,000 graduates across the nation and worldwide and also offers joint degree and master of laws programs.
