Cooley Law School turns out in force for 2011 Kidney Walk

Over 100 people from Cooley Law School recently participated in the National Kidney Foundation's 2011 Kidney Walk this month. Team Cooley accounted for about 20 percent of the walkers in the annual event and raised $5,630. Overall there were 550 walkers participating, and there was $52,575 raised in sponsorships and walker money to date. The walk began and ended at Cooley Law School Stadium, home of the Lansing Lugnuts. Walkers could do a 1.3-mile or a 2-mile route, passing several Lansing landmarks along the way. Live music, games, crafts and prizes helped round out the day's events. Dr. Christopher Lewis, Director of Enrollment Programs and Student Services for Cooley, coordinated efforts at Cooley with a group of students and staff. Lewis indicated the team effort raises awareness, as well as funds. "It's important for the entire Cooley community to realize that kidney disease affects so many in and outside of our campus. There are many individuals living with this disease in silence, and being involved in this walk is just one way in which Cooley can show its support. Cooley has a history of making a difference in our local communities and we hope to continue doing this far into the future." Published: Mon, Jun 27, 2011
