Norcross & Judd LLP will sponsor an estate planning update on Wednesday, November 17.
Attorneys Karen Kayes and David Waterstradt will lead the hour-long discussion on changes to estate, gift and generationskipping taxes that are scheduled to take effect January 1, 2011.
Changes include:
• Reappearance of the estate tax
• Increase in the generation-skipping tax to 55 percent
• Increase in the gift tax rate to a maximum of 55 percent
Kayes and Waterstradt will evaluate options that individuals should consider before the end of the year in order to take advantage of the current tax
structures, including:
• Tax-free gifting to grandchildren and others
• Review of the structure and funding of trusts
• Gifting options that take advantage of a low interest rates
The update will be held from 6:30-7:30 p.m. in the Blue & Gold Room of Muskegon Community College, 221 Quarterline Road.
