Wayne State University Law School hosted Judge Takaaki Shintaku (right), an assistant judge with the Sendai District Court of Japan, as he compared the foreclosure procedures of the United States and Japan in a recent lecture at the law school. On hand to welcome Shintaku was WSU Law Associate Dean John Rothchild. “Today I’ll introduce the Japanese-unique system of foreclosures which (was) introduced five or six years ago,” Shintaku said before his lecture. “During the presentation, I’ll talk about the differences between the U.S. – especially in Detroit from what I saw – and what I did in Japan.”
