SBM section to host Economics of Appellate Practice Seminar
The State Bar of Michigan Appellate Practice Section will host an Economics of Appellate Practice Seminar from 1-4 p.m. on Friday, May 20 at Embassy Suites, located at 19525 Victor Parkway in Livonia.
The seminar will feature a presentation of the State Bar of Michigan’s 2010 Economics of Law Practice Survey statistics, with a focus on appellate practitioners. There will also be a panel discussion on topics such as attorneys’ fees, the cost of an appeal, recovering fee awards from an opposing party, and collecting from clients.
The seminar will cost $25 for members of the SBM Appellate Practice Section, and $40 for non-section members. Snacks and beverages are included in the seminar cost.

Legal Aid and Defender to hold free civil legal services clinics

DETROIT - Legal Aid and Defender Association, Inc. (LAD) will conduct free outreach clinics on civil legal services for income-eligible residents of Macomb, Oakland and Wayne counties, including the city of Detroit, on Wednesday, April 20 from 9 a.m. to noon at H.O.P.E. Center, 33222 Groesbeck Highway, Fraser.
Attendees are asked to register before 10 a.m., as LAD staff will assist only those persons who have registered by that time.
