Hunter awarded DMBA Barristers’ President’s Award for high service
L. Nichole Hunter of the Detroit-based law firm The Allen Law Group was awarded the Barristers President’s Award July 13 by the Detroit Metropolitan Bar Association Barristers. The award recognizes a young attorney whose early career has exhibited high standards of service to the profession, clients, and the public.
Hunter is a graduate of Wayne State University and earned her law degree from University of Detroit Mercy School of Law. Since starting the practice of law in 2007, Hunter has focused on education and public administration. She has served in the capacity of Board Counsel for the Ecorse Public Schools and Detroit Public Schools. In addition she has worked with the Pontiac School District, Southfield Public Schools, and the Wayne County Community College District.
Miller Canfield lawyer selected for Marshall Memorial Fellowship
Jeffrey S. Aronoff, a principal in the Detroit office of the law firm of Miller Canfield, has been selected for the prestigious Marshall Memorial Fellowship.
The fellowship sends emerging professional and community leaders on a 24-day tour of several European cities to meet with various political, business, cultural and community leaders to exchange best practices. There are 46 fellows participating this year from across the U.S., four from Michigan.
At Miller Canfield, Aronoff specializes in all types of public finance, including municipal infrastructure finance, economic development finance and school finance. He also regularly advises governmental clients on general matters including economic development initiatives, public-private collaboration, legislative drafting, and the establishment and ongoing operation of intergovernmental and regional authorities.
He received his J.D. from Wayne State University Law School, his M.P.P. from the University of Michigan, Ford School of Public Policy, and his B.A. from Michigan State University.
‘Call for Action’ seeks volunteer attorneys
Volunteer attorneys are being sought by WXYZ-TV Channel 7’s Call for Action.
Every Thursday volunteer attorneys come to the Channel 7 offices to answer incoming calls regarding legal matters. The phones are open from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The attorneys remain anonymous to callers and do not take cases for themselves. They refer callers to bar associations and give general legal information.
