Honigman's David Foltyn chosen to chair Community Legal Resources Law Firm Fundraising Appeal

 

DETROIT (October 13, 2011) – David Foltyn, Chairman and CEO of Honigman Miller Schwartz and Cohn LLP, has been named Chair of the Community Legal Resources (CLR) Law Firm Appeal.  In this role, Foltyn will lead the effort to raise funds within the legal community to help CLR continue to expand its pro bono legal services to nonprofit organizations with an emphasis on economic development and serving low-income communities across Michigan. 

“David Foltyn and Honigman demonstrate their commitment to pro bono work every day – it is the reason why they were selected as our Law Firm of the Year for 2010,” said CLR’s Chief Executive Officer Heidi Alcock Mucherie.  “We are thrilled David is serving as our Law Firm Appeal Chair and believe his firm’s example will inspire others to support and promote access to justice.”  

As a Partner and member of  Honigman’s Corporate and Securities Department, Foltyn counsels publicly- and privately-held businesses, boards of directors and financial service firms in corporate mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, financial transactions, public offerings and private placements of securities and debt.  He also advises clients on applicable state and federal corporate governance laws.

Foltyn has been recognized by Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business from 2004 to 2011 and as one of the top Corporate/M&A lawyers in Michigan.  He has also been recognized by The Best Lawyers in America from 1995 to 2012 and by Michigan Super Lawyers as one of Michigan’s top 100 lawyers from 2006 to 2011. 

Foltyn is a member of the Detroit Regional Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors; the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Detroit Board of Governors; the Temple Beth El Board of Directors and Executive Committee; and a JVS Past Chair.

Foltyn earned a J.D., magna cum laude, from the University of Michigan Law School and a B.B.A., with high distinction, from the University of Michigan.
